Create, edit, and organize roleplay character cards in your browser. SillyTavern compatible, no server required.
CharacterVault is a browser-based tool for building character cards with the V2/V3 specification. Everything runs locally. No account, no cloud, no data leaves your machine.
What you can do
- Generate complete characters with AI using the Creation Studio — describe your concept or select tags, and the AI creates a full character card from scratch
- Edit every field of a V2/V3 character card, including name, tags, description, personality, greetings, and lorebook
- Manage standalone lorebooks in a second vault library (SillyTavern World Info), with snapshots and optional linking to characters (linked books stay in sync)
- Map recursion between lorebook entries and bulk-edit recursion flags without leaving the editor
- Use AI to help you write with Orion (chat that does not change the card), an Agent that can fill and revise the open character or lorebook, and an AI toolbar that can enhance, rephrase, shorten, and fix text with an in-editor ghost preview, plus search, resize text, and normalize HTML entities
- Save snapshots at any point and roll back to them later, section by section
- Import and export PNG cards with embedded data and JSON files, compatible with SillyTavern, TavernAI, and other tools
- Stay in control with local IndexedDB storage, dark and light themes, and no cloud dependencies
